Can shoes change the world? Probably not, but YOU can.
At Common Ground, we want to help. Our company was created with a single goal in mind: to encourage authentic, productive conversation.
True conversation is becoming scarce, and when it comes to the most challenging and important issues of our time, people don’t talk. They argue. They trade talking points. But they don’t engage in the kind of dialogue that leads to progress.
We want to change all that.
We seek a different path, one in which people commit to working together, seeking out mutual understanding, and identifying common ground that results in lasting progress. It’s not an easy path, but it’s a vital path to move us beyond the gridlock that grips our world.
We believe shoes can be a catalyst. Not only as conversation starters, but as a representation of opposite sides working together to move forward. Our products are designed to draw attention and to highlight the opposing views of challenging issues. We want them to start conversations. Authentic conversations rooted in empathy and honesty. That’s the path to progress, and it’s one we can all walk together.
Now is the time for us all to - Stand up. Step into a conversation. Find Common Ground.
Together we can move forward.
On issues of equality ... we ask that you try and put yourself in the "other" shoe in an effort to appreciate other people’s viewpoints, experiences, and feelings. By doing so, we hope it will spark you to take steps that lead to progress.
We hire local. It is important for us to support those who live in our community. We believe that the beauty of this city and state acts as a constant reminder of our common ground.
On issues of gridlock ... we can not let our differences lead to conflict and paralysis. Try to recognize our common ground, respect the "other shoe", and take steps together to achieve progress.
Giving back ... the steps of individuals
are what spark progress. As our business grows, we will share our success by creating Common Grounds - public spaces that invite respectful thought and discussion. Stay tuned.
